FAQs

Q: From what age can someone ride?

We take riders from 3 years of age; we don’t have an upper limit as we believe it is never too late to find your love of horses!

Q: Can I request a horse?

While we try to consider any requests, we cannot guarantee which horse you will be given for your ride. This can be because we need your favourite horse for other lessons that day or feel that you might suit a different horse better. Each of our horses can teach you something different and this is one of the things we think is most beneficial about learning in our riding school.

Q: What do I need to wear?

You will need a top that covers at least your shoulders, trousers that are full length and comfortable to ride in, a pair of boots with a heel and a hat that meets current safety standards. We offer both hat and boot hire if you don’t have anything suitable.

Q: How do semi-private lessons work?

Semi-private lessons are for friends or family groups of 2 – 3 people. To book a semi-private lesson, all riders need to be registered on the same account and they can be booked in any free private lesson slot.

Q: Why can’t I find any availability?

This could be for a few reasons. If you have only just registered, we may not have graded you based on the answers you gave when registering a rider yet. We aim to do this on the same day as registering. You will only be able to book lessons once we’ve graded you to ensure that the classes you book are suitable for your level. If you’re struggling to see private lesson availability, it could be that you are not looking far enough in advance. Our private lesson slots tend to get booked a few weeks in advance. If neither of these are the case, then drop us an email and we can solve the problem.

Q: What group lesson do I book into?

Any group lesson that shows up should be suitable for you, so please book into any class that shows up on your EC Pro account. If you’re new to riding with us, we suggest trying a few different lessons to find which instructor/group of riders you work with best!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?

In extreme heat or extreme cold, we will cancel lessons. In this case, you’ll be refunded in the form of credit on your account so you can rebook. Our rides continue whatever the weather – sunshine, wind or rain! We will not use certain horses in some conditions for both your and their wellbeing, so your favourite may not be available on some days.

Q: How often should I ride?

For beginners, we recommend at least every other week to retain some continuation. Any less frequent than this and you risk losing a lot of what was learnt in the last lesson. A lot of our riders ride weekly in the same group lesson and we often find that it is these riders who progress the quickest.

Q: What time should i arrive for my lesson?

Ideally we would like you to arrive 15 mins prior to your lesson. This is so we can do our hat and boot checks and ensure you are all kitted up for your lesson.
